On March 10th of 2001 I was lucky enough to spend some time with Max Donson and interview him about his work and his philosophy. I asked him about the above piece "Seven Dynamics".  The following excerpts are from that interview           WinePhilosopher

Interview

WinePhilosopher:    One of my favorite pieces is "Seven Dynamics".  For me it invokes the nature of freedom and the elements water and air.   What can you tell us about this piece?

Max Donson:   It is freedom, however there was an intention; it’s full of concaves and convexes.  And that’s the way of matter, energy, space, and time. There is no straight line anywhere, even space curves.  So I hear.

WP:   They now say  in quantum physics that time and light curve and do not travel or move in a straight line.

Max:    I don’t know of anything that is straight, it’s always, as I said before in motion and transition. This particular piece is not representational of anything, anyone, anywhere, it’s diamond shaped overall. However, with it’s concaves and convexes everywhere, it’s just pleasant to flow, and to travel through.  If you touch it, it’s like… well! like a woman.

WP:    I also love looking at it from different angles, because it's shape, feel, and my perception of it alters so much with each angle.

Max:   It is a piece that is not a bust, it’s not a bird...

WP:     But it includes those things.

Max:   Yes, it’s all those things and more.
